Kindness Lunches
Did you know that a pebble dropped in a pond creates a ripple that lifts lily pads on the other side? This type of motion is called the “ripple effect”, it is a single act (the dropping of the pebble) that spreads outwardly (the ripple) and affects others (lifting of the lily pads).
Kindness is a powerful ripple effect. Kindness does not discriminate nor does it see color, it is available for the wealthy and the poor, the strong and the weak. Kindness is more than a few penny’s in a strangers jar, it is wonderfully simple and for those who practice it, it is a gift. In its natural form Kindness is contagious, it transfers from one person to another. It is rooted in empathy and is not given with conditions and although it may not forget, it always forgives. Kindness is a beautiful force that reminds us that good does exist. It is
the tool that can tighten and strengthen bonds, a bucket that can douse bitterness and blame and a key that can unlock prisons. Kindness does not judge nor does it withhold. It is expressed, it is love in action and the best way to understand it, is to give it.
It is because of this and more that we are pleased to announce our latest addition to the “Kindness Kitchen”, the “Kindness Lunches.” Kindness Lunches are made with love and thoughtfully packaged by volunteers in to go boxes. The boxes are then happily delivered to the pediatric floors and provided to families regardless of their status with the Ronald McDonald House. This means we are feeding families that may not have qualified to stay with us otherwise due to a CPS case or background check. Those families need to know that someone cares unconditionally and the RMH is prepared to do just that. Last month the Kindness Kitchen, including the Kindness Lunches, fed over 1,200 people. This is our kindness ripple in motion, it is our pebble in the pond.
Please consider how you can support the Kindness Lunches through food donation or volunteering to make lunches. No act of kindness is ever wasted.
