What is Paradise – what can it be?

If you google “paradise”, a number of items appear. A recipe for paradise fruit glaze, Webster’s dictionary definition, and even the top 10 songs with paradise in the title. However, there was one particular item that caught my attention, a Paradise poem by April – age 15. April’s poem draws us to answer the question, “what is paradise?” For some it might be the thought of heaven or the perfect beach vacation. For other it might be a large bank account or the dream of being cancer free. Regardless, I believe April is trying to convey that the definition of paradise is up to us as individuals. It is what we choose to make it, what we choose to define it, and how we choose to view it.

I don’t know what was happening in April’s life when she wrote the Paradise poem. However, I do know that her words have inspired me to dwell on my definition of paradise. What is yours?

Paradise

What is paradise, what can it be? is it the same to you as it is to me?

is it a place where one forgets their problems for a while somewhere where people just stop and smile?

or is it something deeper? A place that doesn’t end where you have the rest of your life to spend?

Is it a place where you are hap py with who you are where all is good and bad is a far,

A place where calmness runs from your head to your toe where relaxation and comfort are all that you know,

What is paradise, What can it be? Is it the same to you as it is to me?

By April – Age 15
